Martin (Marty) Mayer specializes in the generation, curation, appraisal, synthesis, translation, and application of evidence as a core member of the Innovations and Evidence-Based Medicine Development Team at EBSCO Health | EBSCO Information Services. He previously held academic appointments at High Point University and East Carolina University. He has practiced in internal medicine since graduating PA school, and for the last five years, he has also been concurrently practicing in cardiology. He has published widely in national and international, peer-reviewed journals on various topics as a sole or first author, and he has been honored to have some of his articles selected as Editor's Choice for the issue of the journal in which they were published. He has presented from the local to national level and provided pro bono consultation on matters pertaining to evidence-based medicine and shared decision-making from the local to international level. All his scholarly activity shares at least one broad, unifying theme: seeking to improve patient care by maximizing utilization of the best-available evidence, always employing shared decision-making wherever it is feasible.
