In this course, Kenyon Railey, MD reviews definitions of sex, gender, gender identity, and gender expression, identifies barriers to accessing healthcare for male patients, and strategies for encouraging men to engage in healthy decision making. Morbidity and mortality data for common chronic conditions in male patients are reviewed, and components of the health history related to the male patient are discussed. Dr. Railey also covers an approach to the well male visit including documentation and recommendations for health screenings. Lastly, cross cultural communication strategies for high risk male patients are discussed to work toward eliminating health disparities among vulnerable populations.
