On Demand: Optimizing the Diagnosis and Management of IBS

Event Description

In this session, the key symptoms and diagnostic criteria for IBS are identified along with a list of several triggers of IBS onset or exacerbation and some of the patient factors that have been identified as contributing to the development of symptoms. The dietary strategies for reducing IBS are covered, along with medications used for IBS-D and IBS-C symptoms according to their actions and recent clinical trial data in order to individualize treatment plans. Lastly, the speakers demonstrate several communication skills that have been associated with building trust and helping patients increase participation in their care.

This activity has been reviewed by the AAPA Review Panel and is compliant with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credit. Approval is valid for one year from 09/20/2018. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
